Als abschliessendes Beispiel zur Mitgestaltung der Geisetwissenschaften in der Realisierung des EncycloSpace sei das " Institute for Advanced Technology in the Humanities " (IATH) an der Universität von Virginia in Charlotteville genannt. Das IATH beschreibt sich in der Homepage so: "IATH's goal is to explore and expand the potential of information technology as a tool for humanities research. To that end, we provide our Fellows with consulting, technical support, applications programming, and networked publishing facilities. We also cultivate partnerships and participate in humanities computing initiatives with libraries, publishers, information technology companies, scholarly organizations, and others interested in the intersection of computers and cultural heritage."
Das Institut bietet eine bemerkenswerte Unterstützung in der Bewältigung von Fragen zur Integration der fortgeschrittenen Technologie in den Geisteswissenschaften an. Dem IATH sind wertvolle Verzweigungen angegliedert, so die "Humanist Discussion Group", welche als Publikationsorgan dem American Council of Learned Societies und dem U.K. Office for Humanities Communication angegliedert ist, in Verbindung mit der "Association for Computers and the Humanities" und der "Association for Literary and Linguistic Computing".

Zu den IATH-Quellen gehört etwa die Abhandlung des Literaturwissenschaftlers Jerome McGann "The Rationale of HyperText" (siehe auf dem Web-Server). Darin wird das von McGann betreute Hypertext-Archiv zum Dichter und Maler Dante Gabriele Rossetti als Beispiel genommen, um neben der bei Rossetti sich aufdrängenden Multimedialität der Dokumentation auch die Prinzipien der zeitlichen Offenheit ("The HyperText need never be 'complete'.") der Edition und der dezentralen Struktur des Hypertextes ("The point is that the HyperText, unlike the book, encourages greater decentralization of design.") zu erläutern.
